The mornings are always a little slow at first but then you realize it is time to get up and going into the parks. Today would be our first entry into the Animal Kingdom. We had no fast passes for one of the greatest rides in the park.... Flights of Passage (FoP) but we did have them for Expedition Everest. So we hopped on a bus and headed over to meet the Yeti.
As we strolled in the humidity was already quite high. As we entered the line there was a cast member whose name was Erin....from Scranton AND a 2012 Scranton Prep Graduate!!
This was also Papa's first time riding Expedition Everest. Needless to say it was quite an experience. No shirts were readily available but HE CONQUERED EVEREST AND THE YETI!
As we headed out Emma spied a stuff Yeti but it didn't make it back to the room.... this time.
From there we headed over to Dinosaur where we had to wait a bit for our Fast Pass time to open up. Of course no wait is without a restroom call. The restroom near Dinosaur had the BEST air conditioning!!! LoL
After returning the dino egg back to current times on the ride, we strolled over to the Navi River in Pandora. This is a nice water ride on the level of Small World but with lights. As Jack said "all it was was lights".
At that point we worked our way over to Africa and hopped on the Safari. This is always a fun experience that has a real feel to it in a Disney kinda way. As we drove along we can see the Safari Trek path Jill, Jake, and I did in 2016.
The group split up with most heading back to the hotel to eat. Papa, Jen, Joe, and I enjoyed a lunch under the canopies at the Flame Tree Barbecue. It is often said, the food in Disney is like an attraction itself. This was true in this case. Very good.
Once back, we hit the pool and cooled off. But first, Jake, Matt and I hopped on the Sea Racers and toured around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. We even witnessed a wedding on the back of one of the boats. There was also one brief moment as we passed through the channel where I thought we were going to get squashed by the bigger boats!!! But all was fine.
After a few slides down the Lava pool slide, we got cleaned up and read to head out for dinner. Steve and his family headed to Disney Springs and my family had plans to attend to Luau. The day however took its toll on Jake. A steady diet of dole whips, snacks, heat, and little rest...not to mention having been hit with Mono....created a little scare as he felt well out of sorts. He and I decided to take a walk and get something to eat back in the room where Jen joined us.
In the meantime, Jordan, Jill, Joe, and Papa took in the show and dining experience. Jordan said it was one of the best things she has ever seen in Disney!
We wrapped up the evening by relaxing and getting into bed a little earlier...just a little. LOL. Tomorrow was going to an early one.
