Our travels are always fun and when you head to Disney is it always great thing. This year we flew out of Newark, so we loaded up the car, said "see you later" to our buddy Ollie and heading out. Tuned in a few Disney tunes and then Jake commanded the request list playing songs from his phone. The morning was far too cold for June but we knew in a few hours we would be in 99 degree heat and humidity.
We arrived at Steve's and the kids, who had just found out the night before they were heading to Disney, we off to school. We quickly transferred bags and Steve drove Jen, Jill, Jake, and I to the airport. Joe had departed NYC and began heading to Orlando. Joe (Papa) and Jordan would leave for Orlando in the afternoon after Jordan left work.
After our flight landed we put on our Magic Bands and boarded the Disney Magical Express. You can feel the excitement. We arrived at the Polynesian, received our lei's and began checking in. However, I had my chance for the first Dole Whip!! It could NOT have tasted any better.
Our room assigned to us at checkin are in Fiji. A beautiful spot that overlooks the Luau area and the beach. Once our bags arrived and we got familiar withe Dining Plan....kinda sorta...we had a little bite to eat with Joe to hold us over.
With vacation clothes on we headed over the Contemporary to have dinner at the California Grill which sits at the very top. It has a perfect view for the 9:15pm fireworks show at the Magic Kingdom. The dinner was simply amazing. It was our first time hearing and seeing the new Magic Kingdom Fireworks display...well...needless to say...it tugs at the heart strings.
It was during dinner Papa and Jordan arrived. We all met up in the lobby. The 'team' was assembling.
A good start to a great trip.
